Knauer Australian Shepherds

My name is Cassidy, the breeder behind Knauer Aussies. My involvement with the breed started 10 years ago, where I began showing my first ethically bred Aussie.

I have had dogs throughout my adult life and childhood. My prior involvement with dogs fueled my passion for breeding dogs with predictable temperament and health. I strive to place my dogs with families that will give them the best chance for successful and happy lives. It is also important to me to remain available to families for guidance, adorable updates, and ongoing relationships.

We are a small home based hobby kennel located in Maine, where our dogs all live in the home and are raised ‘underfoot’. They do not live in a kennel environment, which is something we feel very strongly about. They are most importantly loved and treated as family members.

We have bred dogs that are training and competing in a variety of sports, including conformation, obedience, dock diving, rally, scent work, herding, and agility.

We strive to breed dogs that are mentally and structurally sound, as well as loving companions, or versatile sport prospects.

When our dogs aren’t competing they live fulfilled lives hiking, swimming, running around acres of mountain side property, or simply napping on the couch for a movie night.

Our dogs are fully health tested (OFA hips, elbows, and yearly eye exams) with full genetic profiles, and registered with AKC and ASCA.

***Australian Shepherd Club of America: "The Miniature Australian Shepherd, North American Shepherd, North American Miniature Australian Shepherd, and/or Toy Australian Shepherd breeds are not recognized as a  variety of Australian Shepherd by ASCA.  The club considers such dogs to be a distinct and separate breed and will not accept them into its registry. "Our bylaws state that ASCA's purpose is: 'To encourage members and breeders to accept one breed standard for  the Australian Shepherd as approved by the Club as the only standard of excellence by which Australian Shepherds shall be judged.' It is the mission of this club and the mission of its members to preserve the breed rather than change it."***
